In early 2011, Linkvana conducted a study of over 8,350 keywords from 109 participating websites, encompassing 19 industries over an approximately 3-month period. Their goal was to see how well websites were performing after using their service.

Just in case you haven't heard of Linkvana, they are a subscription service where you submit content to their high quality network of blogs for quality one way permanent backlinks.

-Of the 109 websites in the study who built backlinks through Linkvana, 75% had an increase in their page's rank in Google in three months or less. While you might have expected higher, you have to remember that this is over 19 different industries, with some of those industries being hyper-competitive.  This also does not account for sites with poor on-site optimization...  but hey, that's why we are here  =]

-  In the study, all categories of websites achieved an increase in keyword rank, regardless of the number of keywords submitted. On average, 70% of websites achieved an increase in their Google rank for 20% or more of their keywords. With Book Reviews and Recreation & Sport categories achieving 50% and 39% respectively. What this means is that if a website submitted 100 keywords into the system, a minimum of 50 of those keywords increased their Google position (using Book Reviews as an example).

This chart shows that in certain categories, that by using the Linkvana service, you have a very good chance of getting your keywords to rank in the top 3 of Google in three months or less.

In summary, it can be seen that building backlinks is indeed a very effective strategy to improve your rankings in the search engines. Of course the level of success varies depending on what categories you are targeting, the number of keywords you are targeting and your on-page SEO. But overall, Linkvana clearly proved building quality backlinks can indeed get you significant increases your ranking and maybe even into that Google 1, 2 or 3 position.

So to answer the initial question...will a backlinking service like Linkvana improve your page rank? One word: YES!
